The joint memorandum signed by the leaders of the Alliance Mahmood Kashmiri – Chairman JKNIA, Ghulam Hussain (KFM), Ershad Malik (JKDFP), Mirza Siddique (JKPF), Nadeem Aslam (JKNIA), Younas Taryabi (KWA), Sardar Amjad Yousaf (UKPNP) and Kh. Mushtaq Hussain (JKNLC) states: “Jammu Kashmir National Independence Alliance (JKNIA), and members of civil society and human rights activists in UK and Europe extend complete support and solidarity with the people of Gilgit Baltistan and fully endorse the ‘Charter of demand’ by Awami Action Committee Gilgit Baltistan (AACGB).”
Hundreds of emotionally charged activists of Kashmir Freedom Movement (KFM) a pro-independence unionist political party and members of civil society participated in a rally in front of United Nations Military Observer Group for India and Pakistan (UNMOGIP) field office in in Bhimber, Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Kashmir Freedom Movement (UK Zone) has strongly condemned overbearing party political activities of AJK Prime Minister Ch. Majeed in UK to promote Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. The leaders of KFM Haji Yasin, Ghulam Hussain, Dr Mazher Kiyani, Haji Hameed, Engr. Aftab, Zahid Kalyal, Aftab Hussain, Azher Ahmed, Manzoor Hussain Advocate and Haji Nawaz in a joint statement said “ Ch Majeed has disgraced the office of the Prime Minister of Azad Government of Jammu and Kashmir. His recent activities in UK are below the standard decorum of the Prime Minister of the State. His behaviour and the manner in which he hester are supporting and promoting Pakistan People’s Party Leadership is disgraceful and perpetuating feudal hierarchy with a submissive and subordinate system of political oppression in AJK Politics.”
The people of Gilgit Baltistan and AJK are striving for democratic and decentralised governance and internal sovereignty within Gilgit Baltistan and AJK until a plebiscite is held under the auspices of the UN for the exercise of the right of self-determination within all the regions of the State of Jammu and Kashmir. Therefore, we suggest that Pakistan should demonstrate that Govt of Pakistan respects the territorial integrity of the State of Jammu and Kashmir and the right to ownership, decentralised governance and internal sovereignty of the people of Gilgit Baltistan and AJK.
